Niku and Amber at the Literacy and Language Center are two specialists with over fifteen years of combined experience teaching a range of students with many different kinds of learning disabilities. Both Niku and Amber are members of the International Dyslexia Association, the Association of Educational Therapists, Parents Education Network and the Neighborhoods West of Twin Peaks Community Convener Group.
The Literacy and Language Center offers both evaluations and programs to test students’ strengths and weaknesses, and then individually address each students’ needs. The literacy programs offered at the Literacy and Language Center are based on the Lindamood-Bell Learning Process.
The following programs are offered:
- The Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing Program for Reading, Spelling and Speech® (LiPS®)
- The Nancibell® Seeing Stars® Program: Symbol Imagery for Phonemic Awareness, Sight Words and Spelling Program
- The Nancibell® Visualizing and Verbalizing for Language Comprehension and Thinking® (V/V®)
- The Writing Program
- Quick Reads® Fluency Program
