Who Says Grammar Apps Aren't Fun?

Last updated 3 years ago

It's no secret that the word "grammar" tends to make some of us yawn and look for the nearest exit. Learning and practicing grammar doesn't have to be a series of boring drills or quizzes on tedious rules. Grammar can be fun!

Check out these apps for entertaining ways to learn parts of speech and verb tenses.

Mad Libs
Your kids won't even realize that they are practicing parts of speech! This is their chance to use all the gooey, slimy words they love. Designed for both iPhone and iPad, the Mad Libs app brings new life to a classic game. The free version includes a nice library of stories with more available for purchase.

Grammar Express: Tenses Lite
Practice present, past, and future verb tenses in this quiz-based grammar app designed for iPhone and iPad. After each quiz you can review answers for more in-depth explanations of tense. The free version of Grammar Express includes five quizzes with 40 questions! Suited for older children, this app provides multi-choice questions and times your progress.

Warning: theses apps are addictive! We had a lot of fun trying them out at the Literacy & Language Center.
