A New York library got a big surprise a few years ago when a library book checked out by George Washington in 1789 was finally returned. The library discovered that the book, The Law of Nations by Emer de Vattel, was missing during an inventory check and was offered a replacement by the staff at Mt. Vernon.
If the president were still alive today, his library fine would amount to almost $300,000!
Remember to turn in your library books! The Sunset branch is just right across the street from the Literacy & Language Center.
